To be eligible for an ifs Bursary the student must first apply to the Student Loan Company (SLC) for a maintenance loan and grant at which point the SLC will undertake an assessment of the applicant’s household income.

On applying to SLC the applicant will be asked to give consent, both personally and from his/her family, for the family income data given to the SLC to be shared with the ifs.

Once the ifs has received this information from the SLC it can then determine an applicants eligibility for a bursary.

Bursaries will be paid to students in a single sum on or shortly after 01 March.

Please Note: Provided applicants give permission to the SLC/UCAS to share income data with the ifs, bursaries are awarded automatically - no application is required.
