The ifs School of Finance, a dynamic not-for-profit higher education provider with taught-degree awarding powers, is seeking experienced writers of financial education study texts and/or study guides to develop and write learning materials to support its full-time taught and part-time distance learning programmes.
We are looking for people who can write lively, engaging educational and academic materials for our students across Higher Education Undergraduate Levels 4, 5 and 6. We would also welcome interest from those keen to write study guides for distance learning students at Postgraduate Level 7.
Ideally, you will have a higher education background as an academic, a writer of educational/academic materials for Higher Education, or as an industry practitioner with appropriate academic qualifications (BA/BSc and above). Previous experience of authoring learning materials is highly desirable. Experience of working within the financial services industry is desirable.
You will need to be able to interpret a written brief; closely align content to the module learning outcomes and syllabus; have a strong understanding of current financial services regulation and legislation; be able to interpret and explain key concepts clearly; be able to draw on your own knowledge of the discipline and both core principles and current debates; reflect on your understanding and experience of how different students learn, ensuring variety to engage with different student preferences; be a stickler for accuracy and detail; and be able to keep to tight deadlines.
We are particularly interested in hearing from those with experience in the following areas: banking law; organisational management; retail banking strategy; retail lending; marketing in financial services; and quantitative methods for finance/investment.
If you are interested in writing for us, please send your CV, with a covering note outlining relevant experience and areas of writing interest, to Marie Smith, Publishing Manager, ifs School of Finance, e: msmith@ifslearning.ac.uk.
