• Why should I choose to study with the ifs School of Finance?

• What are Taught Degree-Awarding Powers?

  In January 2010 the ifs was awarded Taught Degree-Awarding Powers (TDAP) by the Privy Council, meaning the ifs can now award both undergraduate and postgraduate taught degrees in their own right. TDAP acknowledges the ifs’ academic integrity as a mature higher education institution and reflects the quality and relevance of all ifs qualifications.

  The ifs is the only specialist financial education body that is able to award its own taught degrees so is uniquely positioned to support your professional development.

• Where is the ifs campus?

  The ifs is based in the heart of the City of London, near Monument tube station. The campus is well-connected to local and national public transport making it very accessible.

• What is distance, flexible and web-supported learning?

  Distance learning allows you to study independently at a pace that suits your personal circumstances.

  Flexible learning is the same as distance learning but with the additional of a series of workshops for each module. The workshops are designed to cover the most critical concepts within the syllabus and are offered subject to demand throughout the UK.

  Web-supported learning gives you access to a web associate lecturer who will support you through your course of study and answer any technical questions.

• What is FHEQ?

  Levels 4, 5, 6 and 7 define the ifs awards in the Framework for Higher Education Qualifications (FHEQ).

   

• How long do I have to complete my qualification?

  This can be very much down to personal circumstances, the qualification and how you choose to study.

  FHEQ Level 4 has a time limit of 4 years
  FHEQ Level 5 has a time limit of 6 years, which includes the time taken to complete FHEQ 4
  FHEQ Level 6 has a time limit of 4 years

  We don’t recommend that you study more than two modules at one time due to the study hours required.

• What is Work-Based Learning?

  This is a compulsory module for the Foundation Degree in Banking Practice and Management and an optional module for the Professional Diploma in Banking Practice and Management and the BSc (Hons) in Banking Practice and Management. Its purpose is to provide an integrated approach to study, where you are given the opportunity to reflect upon your academic learning and gain valuable and relevant experience in your workplace.

   

• What do I do if I don’t think I meet the entry requirements?

  Students who do not meet the entry requirements at FHEQ Level 4 will be able to do an entry assessment, designed to test your ability to study at this level, however you would be required to have a minimum of GCSE Maths and English at grade C or above (or equivalent IELTS scores for international students).
