Adviser Membership benefits

Adviser Membership gives members access to information and resources on four clearly defined areas.

Guiding principles for professional conduct

This is a framework of guiding principles for individual professional conduct that underpins the whole philosophy behind Adviser Membership. It reassures clients of a commitment to ethical and professional conduct at all times.

Online Continued Professional Development system to record your learning

Adviser Members can log their personal development online at myCPD, the ifs Continuing Professional Development programme. CPD demonstrates continued learning, provides valuable evidence of maintaining competence and encourages the development of new skills. In recognition of ongoing development, Adviser Members are included in their own dedicated online CPD register.

Access to reference materials

Adviser Members have access to a wealth of industry knowledge that keeps them up to date with latest developments and market news.

  • ifs KnowledgeBank is the ifs e-library service. It provides a range of support including e-books, leadership support tools and topical news pieces researched by information specialists. Adviser Members can access essential guides to key areas of interest via the Subject Gateways.
  • Our monthly Adviser News e-publication informs and keeps members up to date with the latest industry news and adviser-related events from the ifs.
  • Access to Financial World Online.

Learning opportunities and assessment

Adviser Members are able to take advantage of free and heavily discounted admission to regional and national networking and educational events, including ifs prestige lectures, seminars, industry briefings and training. Adviser Members can also save up to 20% when attending any of the ifs Executive Education programmes.

These benefits work together enabling Adviser Members to demonstrate their ongoing competency and assisting them in meeting the recommendations regarding greater professionalism laid out in the FSA's RDR.
